VOTing & Democracy
Voting rights, voting integrity, and our very democracy are on the ballot this November.
EVERY OTHER ISSUE STARTS WITH THIS.
Abortion rights
There are currently no state constitutional protections for abortion rights in NH. Congressional Republicans have clearly signaled that they will seek a national abortion ban if they gain the majority in November.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Republicans in Concord and Washington have resisted all efforts to pass clean energy legislation to mitigate climate change.
PUBLIC education
Students graduating from NH higher education schools have the highest average debt in the country, and the highest percent of high school graduates leaving the state for 4-year schools.
SOCIAL SECURITY & MEDICARE
Republicans have not hidden their desire to eliminate Social Security and Medicare if they regain control of Congress. Democrats are firmly committed to protecting your hard-earned benefits.
HEALTH CARE
Democrats believe that health care is a right—and that all Americans and Granite Staters should have access to affordable, quality care. We continue to lead on responsible policies and legislation that strengthen those goals.
COST OF LIVING
Inflation is a complex, multifactorial challenge across the globe. Democrats have passed a variety of bills to help working people cope with rising costs.
PROPERTY TAXES
New Hampshire has some of the highest property taxes in the country. Property owners—residential and commercial—deserve predictable and equitable tax structures that don’t fund State-level tax giveaways.
GUN SAFETY
Gun violence affects New Hampshire school children, teachers, law enforcement officers, and families. Yet despite the strong wishes of the majority, the Gov. Sununu has actively WEAKENED gun safety laws.
executive council
The Executive Council is the most powerful body in the State after the Governor. We need to make sure it represents the values of Rye voters and our families.
COLLEGE DEBT
Funding higher education has become a major financial burden for students and families. Democrats are working to make it lighter.
Free staters
The ultra-extreme Free State Project has identified New Hampshire as a takeover target for their libertarian version of “utopia”, with the aim of slashing state and local budgets, overturning common laws, and, ultimately, seceding from the union.
