Gun violence is a scourge that affects New Hampshire school children, teachers, law enforcement officers, and families. Yet despite the strong wishes of the majority of Granite Staters, Gov. Sununu and the NH GOP have actively WEAKENED gun safety laws.

• …that New Hampshire has the 9th worst gun safety laws in the nation?

• …that our rate of gun suicide has increased by 62% (2011-2020) compared with a 12% increase nationally?

These facts did not prevent Gov. Sununu from nullifying Pres. Biden’s first bipartisan gun control legislation in nearly 30 years, thereby prohibiting NH law enforcement officials from adopting the new federal laws. People can now carry hidden, loaded guns throughout our state without a permit.

State House Democrats have written a package of bills to address the rising threat of gun violence to provide relief for anxious NH children and families.

Our State Senate candidate Debra Altschiller, staunch advocate for victims of domestic violence, led the passage of the Red Flag law, one of the few gun safety laws in NH, to keep guns out of the hands of those who may be a threat to themselves or others.
